John M. Baker
Director of Research
John M. Baker has been a member of The Banc Funds staff since 1986. He serves as Director of Research for the group, and supervises six bank analysts. His responsibilities include investment research, analysis of banking operations, and monitoring banks’ performance. He has particular expertise in commercial lending, corporate tax, and thrift operations. Previously, Mr. Baker worked for American National Bank and Trust Company of Chicago as a commercial banking associate. From 1983 to 1985, he was an investment manager for a group of Minneapolis investors. From 1980 to 1983, Mr. Baker was an auditor and tax consultant in the banking practice of Arthur Andersen & Co. Mr. Baker holds degrees from the University of Iowa (Master of Accountancy) and St. Olaf College (B.A.), and is a certified public accountant.
